Popular front of India has celebrated India's 63rd independence day on 15th August 2009 in rememberance of our forefathers who has sacrificied their lives to bring independence to our nation. In part of this celebration Popular Front of India (PFI) has conducted "Freedom Parade" and "Public Meeting" at Kumbakonam in Tamilnadu, Idukki and Kannoor in Kerala and at mysore in Karnataka. At Kumbakonam exactly at 3.00 pm the Freedom Parade started. Freedom parade salute was taken by Mr. M.Mohamed ali Jinnah, State President, Popular Front. Unity song was sung and Mr. Fakrudeen, General Secretary, Popular Front gave the welcome address to the public. Subsequently M. Mohamed Ali Jinnah took the oath of Independence day which was also repeated by public. After that National President Mr. E.M. Abdul Rahman delivered the guest lecture.
In his speech he told that the real freedom is freedom from fear and hunger. There should not be any discrimination over any class of people and all of them should be equaly represented. We have started a political party called Social Democratic Party of India to achive all this Goals.
Freedom fighters who made great sacrifices for our Independence was honoured by the Chairman and national treasurer.
Moulavi. T.J.M. Salahudeen Riyaji (Nellai District Ulama Sabai President) in his speech told that if the freedom fighters would have been alive today they would have embrased the popular front caders out of love.
Viduthulai chiruthai party M.L.A Mr.Ravikumar in his speech talked about the relations between dalists and muslims and its importance.
Ex-M.L.A Mr.M.G.K.Nijamudeen in his speech told that if arms training is given to the Popular Front cadres and absorbed in the Army, they would have secured the Pakistan and China borders.
Mr.A.S Ismail, Vice President of Popular Front in his speech condemned the Police excesses in handling the parade arrangements and permission process.
Mr.K.M Sheriff, President of People democratic party in his speech told that Popular Front cadres today proved that they are capable of being the sentinel of freedom rather than the mindset that they are only fond of eating briyani.
Moulavi Dehlan baqavi, National treasurer of Popular Front in his speech told that he is unsure whether the honorable Chief minister M.Karunanidhi, who is a well wisher of minority communities is aware of all the Police attrocities and excesses in granting permission for Muslims to celebrate the Independence day.
Program co-ordinator Abu bakar siddique gave the vote of thanks and the program concluded with the national anthem.
